Devart Code Compare is a powerful application that offers a very accurate and convenient method of comparing and merging files and folders. This handy tool is very precise at detecting the differences among files. Furthermore, it is specifically created for being used at comparing source codes, therefore it provides features like syntax highlighting for programming languages and it comes both as a standalone executable and a Visual Studio extension. Visual Studio 2010, 2012, 2013 and 2015 editions are supported, Atmel Studio 6.0 and 6.1. Integration with other IDEs is also possible (Eclipse, Android Studio, etc.), as well as integration with popular source control systems like TFS, SVN, Git, Mercurial, etc.
Despite being a powerful, comprehensive and feature-rich utility designed especially for programmers and developers, Devart Code Compare is not complicated or difficult to use. Its interface is pretty simple and straightforward, offering quick access to all the most important features. The intuitive interface also provides cool features like three comparison panes with horizontal and vertical layouts (only in the Professional, paid and registered version).
There are many other handy features and functions offered by Devart Code Compare, including automatic merging or support for adding, viewing, and highlighting code review comments. The free edition comes with some limitations, but it still should suffice for helping you thoroughly test this cool program and decide if it's worth the full price or not. In my opinion, the price is only a slight disadvantage - it which seems rather high for a file diff tool, but considering numerous benefits Devart Code Compare offers, the price starts seeming rather reasonable.
- Intuitive interface.
- Supports code review comments.
- Automatic merging.
- Syntax highlighting for various languages.
- Three way comparison not supported in the free version.
